As a Kendall-based realtor, I’m constantly on the move — meeting clients,
scouting neighborhoods, and discovering the spots that make this community not
just livable, but lovable. One of my favorite finds lately? Apocalypse BBQ in West Kendall.
Let’s just say: this place doesn’t play when it comes to flavor.
What We Ordered (And Loved)
I went for the half rack of ribs, with a trio of sides: mac and
cheese, coleslaw, and maduros. And everything? On point.
The ribs were smoky,
tender, and had that perfect outer bark from the pit — the kind that tells
you these haven’t been rushed.
The mac and cheese was
rich, creamy, and full of comfort.
The coleslaw surprised me
— crisp, fresh, lightly dressed. It balanced out the heavier bites with
just the right crunch and a tangy kick.
But the maduros? Sweet,
sticky, caramelized just right — off the rack good. I could’ve
eaten a dozen.
My husband had the brisket — juicy, flavorful, and sliced thick.
No dryness, no filler — just solid, slow-smoked beef done right.
Honestly, I wish I could’ve tried more, but after that half rack, I was completely
stuffed. We had to take leftovers home — the portions are generous,
and everything’s 100% worth the dime.
Behind the Scenes: BBQ Heaven Depot
Here’s what really sealed it for me: behind the restaurant, there’s a train
of smokers lined up, all billowing that slow, beautiful BBQ smoke. It felt
like stepping into a BBQ heaven depot — steel barrels rolling smoke,
fire going, meat cooking low and slow in the open air.

You don’t just eat BBQ here — you experience it. That setup alone told me
they’re serious about the craft. No shortcuts. No microwaves. Just fire,
smoke, and time.
And Yes, There’s a Bar
If that wasn’t enough, Apocalypse BBQ also has a bar. Whether
you’re grabbing a cold beer while you wait or pairing your brisket with a
cocktail, they’ve got you. It’s casual, welcoming, and adds a whole extra layer
to the vibe — one more reason to linger, relax, and enjoy.
Pro Tip: Go Smart, Not Just Hungry
This spot’s not exactly a secret. Weekend lines can run 2–3 hours,
and they don’t take phone orders. Once they sell out, they’re done for
the day.
Realtor tip:
Go during the week
Aim for off-hours (before
noon or mid-afternoon)
Be patient — the food’s worth
every minute
Realtor’s Take: Why This Spot Matters
Kendall isn’t just about homes — it’s about community. And places
like Apocalypse BBQ are what give this area personality. It’s local,
it’s authentic, and it’s the kind of spot that makes you feel like a regular

As someone who helps people put down roots here, I always tell clients:
it’s not just about where you live — it’s about how you live. And this place? It’s
a reason to love Kendall.
That’s real food, real flavor, and one more reason Kendall is more than just a place on the map — it’s a place to live, eat, and love.
